As we hung out on An Bang beach, near Hoi An in Vietnam, a couple of foreigners came over and hung a bunch of their stuff all over one of these fishing boats, draping bags of fruit on fishing gear, laying out wet clothes … After an hour or so, an absolutely enraged fisherman came over and starting screaming at them and feigning that he was going to kick them. We couldn’t help laughing at them as they desperately tried to get all their bags and crap off the boat.
Before they even got everything together, he ran out to the water and filled a bucket and ran back and started dumping it all over his boat, splashing a bit on their feet as they tried to get away. Get those tourist germs off! (What the hell were they thinking anyway. Chairs/lounges on An Bang are free to hang out on, just buy a bottle of water … you don’t need to act like you own someone else’s fishing boat and gear.)
Anyway, An Bang definitely ended up being a highlight of our 2 weeks in Vietnam. We hope to get back and visit the guys at Banyan soon!
